Mathew 28:19-20

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Witnessing & Discipleship

“…and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.’” (2 Timothy 2:2)

Witnessing (proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ) and Discipleship (helping others to become spiritually mature followers of Jesus) are the heart of the Great Commission (Mathew 28:19-20).  We follow the example of the Apostle Paul, laboring as “ambassadors for Christ”, in our local context and as missionaries to the ends of the earth, in the hope that all might come to saving faith in Jesus.

However, the salvation of the lost is not the end in itself.  Rather, it is the beginning of a new life in Christ.  Another foundational ministry at FBF is personal discipleship where a mature Christian commits to helping a new or spiritually immature Christian learn to live in obedience to Jesus.  Through a 12-18 month period of weekly discipleship, young  believers are equipped to walk with Jesus for a lifetime and to help others do the same.

Disciplers mentor, teach and train others:

  • to grow in fellowship with Christ through personal Bible study, prayer and meditation, Scripture memorization, and practicing the disciplines of the Christian life.
  • to have a heart for the lost and to share their faith with others.
  • to fulfill their God given roles in their families, work places, neighborhoods and schools.
  • to identify and use their spiritual gifts to build up the Body of Christ.

World Missions

  • Our passion for the glory of God and our obedience to the Great Commission is the foundation of our commitment to world-wide missions.  Acts 1:8 provides our model for missions: missions begins in our local sphere of influence (friends, family, neighbors) and extends out to our community, the rest of Warren County, our own nation and the world.  Our Missions Ministry is an extension of our third Cornerstone of Ministry:  Witnessing and Discipleship.
